Today, Benesys had the privilege of attending UNHCR’s "Women on the Frontline" event at The Conduit in commemoration of International Women’s Day. Over breakfast, we explored a sobering reality: women and girls disproportionately bear the brunt of crises.
The insightful discussions underscored the critical role of flexible funding in enabling organisations like UNHCR to respond to global crises within the first 72 hours immediately after their outbreak. However, with government funding typically taking at least 6 to 8 weeks to respond and a staggering 98% of UNHCR donations being restricted- preparedness often poses a challenge. This is where proactive and purposeful philanthropy fills an essential gap, and Benesys steps in. Each charity on our platform undergoes our rigorous assessment, empowering us to confidently recommend them to clients on a multiyear and unrestricted basis. Today's conversation reaffirmed the efficacy of our approach.
As an all-women organisation, we take immense pride in celebrating the strength and resilience of women and girls worldwide. We are deeply grateful to the organisers for convening this vital dialogue and to the speakers, Shirin Pakfar, Zarlasht Halaimzai and Lydia Piddock, for sharing their compelling stories.
