Good News for Giving

The Sunday Times Giving List brings good news for giving!

For the first time in three years, charitable donations from the UK’s 100 wealthiest individuals have increased — rising by nearly £500 million to a total of £3.7 billion, according to the latest Sunday Times Giving List.

Notably, hedge fund managers top the list for the first time, collectively donating an impressive £5.3 million a week to charitable causes.

Even more remarkable, this surge in giving comes despite a decline in the combined wealth of the UK’s richest individuals and a falling number of billionaires in the country.

It’s also encouraging to see a new generation of younger high-net-worth individuals making giving a core part of their lives — continuing a positive trend we saw last year. Notably, Harry Styles entered the list for the first time at position 15, setting a strong example of how philanthropy can be integrated into a career from the outset, rather than treated as a byproduct of success.

A win for the sector to see high-net-worth individuals stepping up in challenging times. Long may this momentum continue.
